Download Festival // Donnington, England
So last weekend I travelled down to the famous Donnington Race track to cover my second festival of the season, Download Festival. This was my second time covering this world renowned festival but my first for Upset Magazine and also my first live coverage of a festival (Live Reviews / Galleries are posted often before the band come off stage). It was a tiring but incredibly worthwhile experience, according to the health app on my iPhone, I covered over 37 miles across the three days and considering I didn't arrive at the festival until 2pm on Friday... I'll say I worked pretty hard!
This year I was really excited to be heading down as it would mean I would get to tick the top box on my bucket list, see Aerosmith live, and boy did they put on a show and what made it even better was the fact I could say I saw their last EVER show in the UK. Headlining the final night, they amazed me in more ways than I can imagine. For a band, who's members are nearing their 70's and have been around for 47 years, they sure has hell can put on a huge show. Playing through the classics, this was a moment in itself for me. I honestly still can't get over the fact that I was able to witness such a moment.
Saturday night the guys in Biffy Clyro teared up Downloads main stage as the Saturday Headliners, these guys honestly get better and better every time I see them and I'm very excited to be working/covering them in a few weeks at TRNSMT. My good friends in The Lafontaines were also playing Download for the first time ever and can you tell me anyone who can say they packed out a tent during their first ever set? Not many people I can assure you. They literally blew the roof off the place and it was a joy to watch.
Anyway enough about my banging on... if you want to read what our writers Ali Shutler and Danny Randon thought of the weekend or view the content Sarah Louise Bennett and I created then head over to the Download 2017 page at Upset Magazine. For a selection of my photographs, see below and let me know what you think!
Next up is.... TRNSMT Festival!
